§ 39A. Limits on successive terms for board of education commissioners.

  • No person who has been elected after the effective date of this section to the board of education for two successive four-year terms shall be eligible to run for election for the board of education until at least one term has elapsed. Provided, any person elected or appointed to the board of education to fill an unexpired term of two years or less shall be eligible to serve two successive four-year terms. Any person elected or appointed to the board of education to fill an unexpired term of more than two years shall only be eligible to serve one four-year term. This does not disqualify a person from running for election to the board of education for any term or terms that are not successive.

    This section does not disqualify a person who has served successive terms on the board of education pursuant to subsection (a) from being elected or appointed to any other elective or appointive office.
