§ 19. Registrars of voters.

  • (a)

    The registrars of voters shall enter the names of the qualified electors on the official lists by the street and number of the house, when the houses are numbered, and not alphabetically, so that there shall be entered on the list, first, the street, avenue, road or alley; second, the number of the house or residence in numerical order; and third, the resident electors in such house or residence in alphabetical order, and those electors, if any, who cannot be so registered, shall be registered alphabetically. They shall maintain an alphabetical list of voters in the office of the town clerk. They shall appoint deputy registrars of voters and may appoint assistant registrars of voters as provided in section 9-192 of the general statutes. The City of Bristol shall provide office space and clerical assistants for said registrars of voters. The salaries and expenses of said registrars of voters and deputy registrars of voters shall be paid from the general fund of said town.

    (b)

    The registrars of voters shall have the powers, duties and responsibilities conferred upon them by state statutes.
