§ 17-18. Use of streets.

  • No peddler, solicitor or canvasser shall have any exclusive right to any location in the public streets, nor shall be permitted a stationary location on Main Street, North Main Street, or Riverside Avenue between Main Street and North Main Street, or any public place unless specifically authorized to do so, nor shall be permitted to operate in any congested area where such operations might impede or inconvenience the public. For the purpose of this section, the judgment of a police officer, exercised in good faith, shall be deemed conclusive as to whether the area is congested or the public impeded or inconvenienced. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be fined in accordance with Section 1-11 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Bristol.
